With
the increasing frequency of rapidly spreading, destructive viruses
such as Melissa and Nimda, the need for enterprise-wide virus protection
has become a basic business requirement. More than just an IT concern,
it's an issue that has risen to the boardroom level. To be protected,
it's no longer sufficient to have security only at the firewall
and e-mail gateway. Complete virus protection requires additional
protection at the desktop and file server in order to ensure system
uptime and user productivity.
Lava
Networks takes virus security seriously. That's why we protect our
clients using a 3-tier protection system. Lava Networks utilizes
the best features of Symantec™ Norton Anti-Virus Corporate Edition
and your protection is updated daily using Symantec™ Live Update.
Tier
1
- Your internet connection is protected at the firewall, monitoring
all internet traffic and stopping viruses before they ever enter
the network. This not only protects your users but the overall health
of the network. All incoming e-mail is subjected to virus scanning
before it reaches the mail servers.
Tier
2
- We maintain our Servers with Norton Anti-Virus™
Corporate Edition. Files are scanned in realtime as they are created
or changed. This means up-to-the-second security.
Tier
3
- Some viruses come in through the user's
workstation, usually through an infected floppy disk. At Lava Networks,
workstations and laptops are kept up to date and scan disks before
they are allowed to be used on the network.
When
the Nimda virus made its rounds last September, not a single Lava
Networks user was infected. Our servers have been virus-free since
the day we opened.
